I am in my early 70’s and my labs for calcium and my bone density scan come back in normal range. My mother had trouble with enough calcium, and she lost most of her teeth before she passed on. Calcium is necessary to maintain healthy bones and teeth as well as benefiting nerves and muscles. Magnesium helps the calcium do its job and participates in numerous enzymatic reactions in the body and is intended to provide nutritive support for normal, healthy heart, muscle, nerve and circulatory function. Zinc is involved in over 100 enzymatic reactions in the body, plays an important role in immune system function and is vital for the normal structure of cell membranes.I began using this product several years ago on the advice of a nutritionist. I was already taking a calcium supplement in order to maintain good bone density; but this nutritionist recommended that I take a magnesium supplement along with holy basil 30-45 minutes before bedtime to help with my sleep. I had been taking Ambien nightly for nearly 9 years. I’d tried off-and-on for a number of years to wean myself off the Ambien and tried substituting a variety of natural sleep aids (melatonin, herbal mixes, behavior modification, you name it). Nothing helped my insomnia. Then I took her advice and added the magnesium to my supplement regimen. For the first time in years, I was able to gradually drift off to sleep. When I added the holy basil, sleep came even easier and my sleep patterns seemed more regulated. I’d been buying this at a health store; but the price on Amazon is much better.
